Majority of McCann Teachers Should Recieve High Evaluation Scores

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Administration anticipates between 90 and 100 percent of McCann Technical teachers will receive an exemplary or proficient score by the end of this year's evaluation cycle.
At last week's School Committee meeting, Principal Justin Kratz said the administration is half way through this year's teacher evaluation cycle.
He said by the end of the year, all of the teachers in the building will have gone through a complete evaluation cycle with the new format and regulation.
"It is going very well and all of the software that we have is really helping facilitate the process," Kratz said. "It's a lot easier than in some of the districts where they are still use paper and pencil."
Kratz reported that the math portion of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System will begin this week and the science section will begin after graduation.
He said students determined to be high risk have been taking Saturday classes to help boost their test scores.
The School Committee awarded the school's landscaping service to Old New England Properties for $345 per cutting. Old New England Properties held the previous contract and was renewed for another 5 years.
Superintendent James Brosnan said work continues on the senior project, the new athletic shed. However, the seniors may run out of time to finish it.
"There is going to be a race," he said. "Obviously, there isn't much time left for the seniors so they are going to hustle up week and get as much done as they can. Then the juniors will pick it up."
He said students also constructed a display case for the Clarksburg Historical Society.
Brosnan said the McCann softball team gave him a ball from the first game on the new field signed by all of the players and the coaches. He said it will go in the trophy case.
"It's great for all of those who worked so hard to get the softball field going ... and it is really quite nice of them to as a remembrance because it took us 11 years to get there," Brosnan said.
He said the field is already getting great use.
"It's terrific. The girls love it, and it is great to have not only for games but they can practice on it," he said. "We continue to make these improvements."
