Local Trumpet Player To Play With The Eagles Band

Drury grad Steven Felix will join the Eagles Band for two concerts.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — North Adams native and Drury High School graduate Steven Felix will join the Eagles Band as a featured soloist for performances in early July.

With Felix, the Eagles Band will play Carl Hahne’s “Slavonic Fantasy” at Windsor Lake on Wednesday, July 1, and at the Veterans Home Park in Bennington, Vt., on Wednesday, July 8.

Both concerts are free and they begin at 6:30.

Felix graduated from Drury in 2007 and received his bachelor's degree in trumpet performance and music education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

He received his master's degree in trumpet performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., where he is currently a first-year doctoral student.

Felix has performed in competitions on the national and international level. He recently was awarded first place in the Graduate Solo Division of the 2015 National Trumpet Competition

In 2011, he was awarded second place in the undergraduate solo division. He also has been the recipient of three scholarships from the International Trumpet Guild, from 2008 to 2010.

He currently holds the trumpet intern position at the Eastman Community Music School.

North Adams Public Schools To Host Grade Configuration Forum

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — North Adams Public Schools will host a community forum to discuss updates on grade configurations and logistics for the 2024-2025 school year.
 
The forum will take place on Wednesday, May 15 at 6 PM. The forum will take place in a hybrid format at the Welcome
Center at Brayton Elementary School and via Zoom which can be accessed by going to napsk12.org/ZoomLinkMay15.
 
Forums are open to anyone interested in learning more about the logistics planned for the upcoming school year, including, transportation, arrival and dismissal times, class sizes, and school choice updates. The forum will also allow participants to ask questions and provide feedback.
