ADAMS, Mass. — The town has received two bids for the substantial street resurfacing and sidewalk reconstruction to take place this summer.

The two bids opened on Thursday were: a base bid of $707,088.46 from J.H. Maxymillian and a base bid of $994,323.80 from Lane Construction.

Interim Town Administrator Donna Cesan said the town anticipates resurfacing work on portions of Bellevue Avenue, Glenn Street, East Orchard Terrace, Temple Street, Pearl Street, Hoosac Street, Cook Street and Albert Street and Arnold Avenue in their entirety.

As for sidewalk work, the town anticipates reconstruction on Pearl Street, Country Club Avenue, Bob's Hill and Melrose.

Cesan noted that some items on this working list may be adjusted depending on the prices the town receives.

After the bid is awarded, work is likely to begin in mid- to late July and wrap up at the end of the calendar year.

The bids were originally due Thursday, May 31, but the town extended the date to June 7.

The resurfacing and reconstruction will be funded through state Chapter 90 road funds.
