Pittsfield to Demo Columbus Ave. Garage, Hopes for Replacement

PITTSFIELD, Mass. With or without state support, the city is going to tear down the Columbus Avenue garage. The City Council on Tuesday preliminarily approved $2 million toward tearing down that garage and instead putting in a surface parking lot. However, the city is still holding out how that the state will allocate funds to rebuild a three-story garage on the site instead.

Hinds Asks State to Fund Design for New Pittsfield Police Station

State Sen. Adam Hinds is asking the state to help in designing a new city police station. A capital bond bill is currently making its way through the Legislative process and Hinds has filed an amendment for $4 million to design the new station. The city has been eying a police station for years- including hiring a consultant to perform a feasibility study was conducted to identify possible locations and craft a conceptual outline of what the building would require.
