Mount Greylock School Committee Reapproves Concussion Policy

Lindsey von Holtz also shared data she has compiled about the instance of head injuries at the school whether on the playing field or not. In the academic year ending this month, Mount Greylock students have reported 38 head injuries, including 24 diagnosed concussions. Of those concussions, 10 were linked to interscholastic athletics, six happened during physical education, one was a non-sports accident on school grounds and seven occurred outside of school activities.

Substance Abuse Prevention Part 1: The Data

Prevention is just one aspect of tackling the opioid problem in the county. So far signs show local efforts are working, but that local effort still have a lot of work ahead of them. Over the last 10 years data collected from the Berkshire United Way is showing a decreasing percentage of county students using alcohol, marijuana, and tobacco products. However, compared to the national average, Berkshire students are still using those substances at a greater frequency than national averages.

North Adams Preschoolers Now Brushing Their Teeth in School

'Chefs In Schools' Brings Healthy Eating to Pittsfield Children

Eat well, sleep well, and exercise are the keys to a healthy life. Thanks to Blue Cross Blue Shield, the first of which is being instilling in young children throughout the city schools by bringing in Project Bread's Chefs in Schools program. One of Project Bread's initiatives is ran out of Boston and brings chefs into schools to help train cafeteria staff, test out new recipes, and teach children about healthy eating - even getting the picky eaters to try new things. North Adams Elementary Pupils Set for Walk to School

The city's elementary school pupils are being encouraged to walk to school on Wednesday for International Walk to School Day. Routes have been laid out for the three schools and parents are encouraged to join the "Walking School Bus" that will feature school and city officials, teachers, local "celebrities," and police officers.
