Berkshire County Kids Place Honors Volunteers at Annual Gala

On Friday night, the country club's dining room was transformed into an "Evening in the Enchanted Forest" with woodsy decorations and twinkling lights to raise funds for the agency and honor volunteers who have helped its mission. Guests were welcomed by gala co-chairs Tim and Ana Suffish and thanked by board Chairwoman Rosemarie Phelps.

Berkshire County Kids Place Honors Petriccas as Community Leaders

When Perri Petricca and Michelle Thorpe were getting married, they decided the best way to celebrate their union was to provide support for the children served by Berkshire County Kids Place. "Children have always been the center of our lives," said Michelle Petricca on Friday night at Kids Place's annual gala where she and her husband were presented with its Community Leadership Award. They both come from large families and have four children together.

Local Physicians to be Honored at LitNet Gala

At this yearís event, LitNet will honor two distinguished members of the hospitalist program at Berkshire Medical Center, Dr. Tony Makdisi and Dr. Sukhpal Mann. Each physician will receive LitNetís Founders of America Award, which recognizes individuals whose strength of character and commitment to service have improved lives in the Berkshires and beyond.

United Way Ends 'Day of Caring' With Dance Party

Hundreds of people shook it up on the dance floor at Hancock Shaker Village on Friday night. The dance party Friday night capped of the Berkshire United Way's Day of Caring during which dozens go businesses found ways to donated to the organization's childhood literacy efforts. Further, 50 book houses were installed all over the county as a mini lending library.

Gala Planned to Raise Funds For Springside Park Improvements

There are big, bold plans for the future of Springside Park and the nonprofit Springside Park Conservancy is looking to raise funds to start work. On July 1, the conservancy is hold a gala featuring music, food, and cash bar as the first fundraiser for improvements to the park. The event is $30 will all of the funds going toward improvements eyed in the newly adopted master plan.
