MS Support Foundation was established more than a decade ago to help people like Mazzeo in the tri-state region who are meeting the challenges of living with the disease. On Saturday, the nonprofit celebrated with its 10th annual gala fundraiser, "Hope Springs Eternal," at the Country Club of Pittsfield. Last year's gala raised more than $8,000.
On Friday night, the country club's dining room was transformed into an "Evening in the Enchanted Forest" with woodsy decorations and twinkling lights to raise funds for the agency and honor volunteers who have helped its mission. Guests were welcomed by gala co-chairs Tim and Ana Suffish and thanked by board Chairwoman Rosemarie Phelps.
When Perri Petricca and Michelle Thorpe were getting married, they decided the best way to celebrate their union was to provide support for the children served by Berkshire County Kids Place.
"Children have always been the center of our lives," said Michelle Petricca on Friday night at Kids Place's annual gala where she and her husband were presented with its Community Leadership Award. They both come from large families and have four children together.
At this yearís event, LitNet will honor two distinguished members of the hospitalist program at Berkshire Medical Center, Dr. Tony Makdisi and Dr. Sukhpal Mann. Each physician will receive LitNetís Founders of America Award, which recognizes individuals whose strength of character and commitment to service have improved lives in the Berkshires and beyond.
