Make-A-Wish Spaghetti Dinner at Williams College - April 06, 2007
On Monday, April 9, the Williams College Sophomore Council and Williams Dining Services will kick off Sophomore Week and the Williams Make-a-Wish Project with a community-wide Spaghetti Dinner. The event will take place at the Greylock Dining Hall on the Williams College Campus. Tickets for the event, available for $10 at Where'd You Get That?!, will benefit the cause, and raffle tickets will also be available. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Dozens of local businesses, including restaurants, shops, hotels, and cafes have donated gift certificates and other prizes. The student-led initiative, which has been generously underwritten by Williams Dining Services, and the North Adams Stop & Shop, hopes to raise at least $2,500 in order to give a local child in the community the chance to have his or her wish fulfilled.
The Make-a-Wish Foundation was established in 1980 to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. According to the Make-a-Wish Foundation's website, almost 400 children in Massachusetts will be newly diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions this year.
Sophomore Council was founded this fall as part of an initiative to unite the sophomore class through social and community building events. By granting one wish, Sophomore Council, Williams College Dining Services, Stop & Shop, and the local donors hope to enrich and connect the Berkshire County community in the process of changing one child's life.
The event is supported and assisted by Assistant Director of Student Dining Chris Abayasinghe, Greylock Unit Manager Molly O'Brien, and the Greylock Dining team.
