National Night Out event

- August 03, 2007

The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition announces its participation in the National Night Out event on Tuesday August 7th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., and will be held on the grounds of the Masonic Temple. People of all ages are invited to come. The event will focus on strengthening bonds between the community and local law enforcement, and preventing crime.

Local law enforcement, agencies, residents, and businesses will all be joining together to create a fun night with lots of games, food, and educational materials about community safety. There will be some prizes for adults, and every child is guaranteed to receive a prize. There are 50 bicycle helmets the coalition received as a donation that will be available for distribution, and recipients will have their helmet properly fitted by our local law enforcement.

Last year the 23rd NNO saw 10,000 communities in all fifty states come together to send criminals a message that communities are organized and will not tolerate crime, drugs, and violence in their communities. All together NNO reached 34 million people.

The business community in North Adams has graciously supported this event by donating products and services. The North Adams Masonic Association has kindly allowed the use of their land to hold this event. The Northern Berkshire Community Coalition will be distributing helmets, as well as other prizes. Local agencies will be supporting this event by having safety information available and by providing fun activities. Local law enforcement will be helping to properly fit helmets and to provide Child I.D. kits for anyone interested. Volunteers will be on hand to provide fun activities for families. Mayor John Barrett III will be on hand to talk with folks.

On August 7th, come out and meet your local officers, your neighbors, and have a great time. Learn how to keep yourself, your family, and your community a safe and crime free place to live.

Anyone interested in volunteering, or finding out more about this event should call or email, Alcide Bullett, or Kathy Keeser at the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition.
