Credit Union Now Houses an Insurance Agency
Greylock Federal Credit Union announces plans to hold an open house celebration in Adams. Greylock has completely renovated the office building at 2 Park Street in Adams to accommodate growth within the credit union and to welcome Greylock Insurance Agency. As Regional Vice President Peg Mekdeci said, “The paint has dried, the pictures have been hung, the place is in order and now it’s time to celebrate!â€
The open house celebration will be held from October 22 through October 27. Throughout the week, many events will be held at the Adams branch including pumpkin decorating contests, daily raffles, free refreshments and free Halloween safety items will be given away.
To commemorate the open house, Greylock Federal Credit Union will also donate $250.00 to Alert Hose Company of Adams, proudly providing dedicated assistance to the community for over a century. The money will be used towards educational materials.
Greylock Federal’s Pumpkin Patch Hunt will be held Sunday, October 28, at the conclusion of the Halloween Parade at the Town Hall next to Greylock in Adams. There will be cash prizes in each age group.
The newly renovated branch will house the Adams office of Greylock Insurance Agency, which purchased the insurance business of Gallup & Casey Insurance Services, Inc. on June 1, 2007. Greylock Insurance Vice President, David Casey said, “We realize people living and working in the Berkshires expect convenience and good service. Locating our insurance agency representatives within the credit union building satisfies both of those needs to our North County customers and reflects our commitment to excellence in service to individuals, families and businesses.â€
Greylock will complete its county-wide expansion of service by opening a Great Barrington insurance office very soon. The combined agency will have $15 million in premiums and an estimated 9,000 customers and Berkshire’s only county-wide insurance agency.

CHESHIRE, Mass. — Town meeting on Monday approved all 35 articles on the annual meeting warrant, including a total spending for fiscal 2027 of more than $8.5 million.
Some 77 of the town's more than 2,500 registered voters filled the Cheshire Community House meeting room, debating on a number of articles during the meeting that lasted nearly three hours
The town dedicated its annual report to the Rev. William David Furey, longtime pastor of First Baptist Church and more recently Berkshire Union Chapel in Lanesborough. Furey died last year at age 77.
His wife, Anne Marie Furey, and his sister, Town Moderator Carol Francesconi, were presented with a bouquet of flowers in tribute to him.
He was an exemplary member of the community who left a lasting impression in each and every life that he touched, said Town Clerk Whitney Flynn.
Voters approved several warrant articles that make up an operating budget of $3,840,314 for fiscal 2027. Of this amount, $1,642,481 is allocated for the general government budget, which was approved after clarification of a few questions.
One item was the administrative assistant's salary. Prior to the annual meeting, the town eliminated the executive assistant salary of $54,309 in favor of a part-time administrative assistant salary of $27,155, to reduce costs considering the financial constraint the town is in.
