NORTH ADAMS - McCann Technical School will present a "Showcase to Success" at its open house on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This event welcomes prospective students and the general public to observe the school's programs in operation and see firsthand what Berkshire County's best vocational technical school offers to all students in the community.
The evening will feature tours of the school, information booths, free food tasting, giveaways, and raffles, including a gift certificate to the McCann Tearoom. Demonstrations in each classroom and technical area will showcase student achievement. Skills USA and BPA students who have won medals at local, district, state and national competitions will also show their projects and exhibit their skills. Teachers, guidance counselors and administrators will be on hand to answer questions about clubs, athletics, school activities, and curricular offerings, including "Project Lead the Way", a nationally recognized pre-engineering program.

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
