La Noche de Melodia

- November 27, 2007

In honor of Latino/a Heritage Month, Ritmo Latino celebrates Latin dance, music and culture with its most ambitious event to date: La Noche de Melodia (The Night of Melody).

With this event, Ritmo Latino is bringing live music, class and charm to Williams College and the Berkshire community in a unique and elegant way. Offering an exciting opportunity to experience Latin culture, La Noche de Melodia is guaranteed to be a night to remember.

Happening this Saturday at the Congregational Church in Williamstown, the formal event will feature the fine cuisine of Colombian restaurant La Fogata, the infectious sounds of live band Sabor Picante and a spacious dance floor with plenty of opportunity for dancing Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and Cumbia. The doors open at 6:30pm, dinner will be served at 7:00pm and the band starts at 10:00pm.

Founded in 2005, Ritmo Latino is the Williams College Latin dance ensemble. In addition to performing, the group hosts free weekly classes and workshops exploring Latin dance from Brazil to Colombia, Cuba to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico to Venezuela. With a focus on building community and creating opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to come together, Ritmo Latino has grown into a vibrant community with a diverse core of enthusiastic, dedicated dancers and supporters.

Tickets for La Noche de Melodia go on sale on November 26th-30th in the Paresky Center at Williams College. Tickets are $5 and all the proceeds will go to the Berkshire Immigrant Center. There will be a free Latin dance lesson this Saturday from 3-5pm at the Center for Theatre and Dance (Shared Studio), Williams College.
