The Berkshires received several inches of snow this morning, but not enough to close schools, unlike yesterday's sleety mess. Temperatures will drop into the 20s this afternoon. A few more snow showers are expected through the weekend.

North Adams Regional Hospital went smoke-free Monday — so did all its sister sites, from Sweet Brook to Northern Berkshire Family Practice to the Women's Exchange. No ashtrays, no smoking: No butts about it.

Wanted: Eagle Eyes
MassWildlife's annual eagle count runs Dec. 31 to Jan. 14. Anyone sighting one of the regal birds in Massachusetts is asked to participate.

Send date, time, location and town of eagle sightings, number of birds, whether juvenile or adult and observer's contact information to Mass.wildlife@state.ma.us.

Kidspace Offering Vacation Art Classes

NORTH ADAMS - Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art's Kidspace is offering a range of activities during the holiday vacation week.

  • Explore childhood fears and memories in Richard Criddle's autobiographical exhibition "It's Rude To Stare," which features large-scale sculptures, collages and drawings. There also will be art classes linked to this fantastical Kidspace exhibit.

  • Mr. Goodbody's House of Potions

    Wednesday, Dec. 26, 10 to 11:30 a.m.; ages 3-12

    Kids can do some Mad Scientist art making. Create paint, goo, slime and other magical creations with which you'll be able to make art and play with at home.

  • Magical Memory Pop-Up Books

    Thursday, Dec. 27, 10 to 11:30 a.m.; ages 7-17

    Make a pop-up book filled with your memories. Bring photos to create collages or tell a story in your book.

  • Magical Memory Pop-Up Books for Adults

    Thursday, Dec. 27, 6 to 8 p.m.

    Don't let the kids have all the fun! Come learn how to make a variety of pop-up books to house your photos or tell a story. A great workshop for teachers, parents or anyone looking to let their artistic side out for the night.

  • Fantastical Face Your Fears New Year's Hats

    Monday, Dec. 31, 10 to 11:30 a.m.; ages 3-12

    Come to our annual New Year's Eve hat making class. Afraid of spiders? The dentist? Heights? Create a magical hat to help you combat your fears as you ring in the New Year.

    There is a $5 per person materials fee for each art class. Space is limited so register early. Call Kidspace at 413-664-4481, Ext. 8131 or e-mail at kidspace@massmoca.org.

    Kidspace will be open during the December break, Dec. 22 to 31, every day from noon to 4 except for Christmas Day. Admission is free, although donations are gladly accepted.

    Kidspace is a collaborative project of the Clark Art Institute, Williams College Museum of Art, and Mass MoCA. Art classes are funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Hearst Foundation.
