NORTH ADAMS - SteepleCats mascot Slider will be on Main Street on Saturday, Dec. 22, to chat with shoppers from 2 to 4 and offer them a last-minute gift idea - season tickets for 2008. The support of the Northern Berkshire fan base makes it possible to keep the New England Collegiate Baseball League SteepleCats in North Adams year after year. The team is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that relies on community support, donations and sponsorships to provide the best in family summer entertainment to the residents and visitors of Northern Berkshire County. The 'Cats have not raised their season ticket prices like many professional teams have. Unfortunately, inflation and increased operating costs mean more than ever that they need local support, say 'Cats officials. Because they appreciate the support, with the purchase of any season ticket now, buyers will also receive a 25 percent discount coupon on SteepleCats merchandise purchased at any one time during the 2008 season at the souvenir booth at Joe Wolfe Field. The tickets can be purchased at the following locations - Adams: Val's Variety, 5 Columbia St.; North Adams: Man's World Styling Salon, 20 Marshall St., and Moulton's General Store, 77 Main St.; Williamstown: Angelina's, 240 Main St., and St. Pierre's Barber Shop, 18 Spring St.; Clarksburg: Cross Road Variety, 28 Cross Road; Stamford, Vt.: Billmont's Country Store, Main Road. Ticket prices are $100 for a full-season family pass, $70 for a full-season individual, $60 for a family 10-pack and $45 for an individual 10-pack. Can't find Slider? Mail a check to North Adams SteepleCats, PO Box 540, North Adams, MA 01247. Summer collegiate baseball brings an intangible benefit to Northern Berkshire, say the 'Cats, and that baseball is the great common denominator that builds community and brings us together. So, give the gift of summer fun this holiday and support the SteepleCats' 2008 season by purchasing a season ticket now.
