Demo Class in Music Sight-Reading Offered - January 02, 2008
A college-level class in music sight-reading for choral singers, vocalists and instrumentalists, beginners to intermediate, will begin its 10 week winter session on Tuesday, January 16th from 6:30 to 7:45pm at the Church on the Hill Parish Hall on Main Street in Lenox. The class will focus on various techniques (including Jacques Dalcroze’s Solfege and Eurythmics) to improve one’s ability to quickly read melodic lines and rhythms at sight.
Exercises include pitch memorization, lessons in key identification and scale functions, rhythm training, count-singing, and learning how to listen and tune with other singers. The class will be taught by Andrea Goodman, director of the Cantilena Chamber Choir and Saratoga Choral Festival.
The fee for the 10-week course is $195, and materials will be provided. The first class on January 16th will be a free demo session for all interested participants, available by reservation only. For a syllabus and further information call 518-791-0185, or email satbchoir@yahoo.com. |
