MCLA Offers New Courses for Spring Semester

NORTH ADAMS – Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts will begin its spring semester on Tuesday, Jan. 15,  with a wide range of day and evening courses.

The new course "Sport Psychology" will introduce students to the current research and theoretical perspectives related to various psychological and psychosocial components of exercise and sport participation and competition.

Another new course, "African-American Leaders," taught by history professor Frances Jones-Sneed, will examine black American leaders from a slave preacher to 21st-century presidential contender Barak Obama through films, novels and autobiographies.

Evening courses will include those on federal taxation – entities; money, banking, global financial markets; and marketing communications.

SteepleCats Shut Out on Road

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
