Martin Luther King Day - January 14, 2008
On Monday January 21st, 2008, the North Adams MLK Day Committee will be holding its 14th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration. This year’s event will be held at the Church Street Center on the MCLA campus. This is Northern Berkshire’s way to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King and to explore peace in our community.
The festivities start at 9:00am with coffee and pastries and transition to an interfaith worship service followed by keynote and dignitary speeches. This is a community celebration that highlights the diversity of our cities and towns.
The day will also include the presentation of the Peacemaker award to Cheshire resident William Levi, founder of Operation NMI, Inc. a non-profit Christian relief organization serving the people of Sudan.
Musical and theatrical performances by local groups will entertain everyone and the day will conclude with a free luncheon and plenty of good conversation. Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there. |
