'Learn How to Learn' Workshops Offered at BCC

PITTSFIELD - The Tutorial Services Program at Berkshire Community College has scheduled a series of workshops to help students of all ages succeed in their educational endeavors. All workshops are free and open to the public.

Except as noted, the workshops will be taught by Janie Pellish, BCC’s Coordinator of Tutorial Services and will be held in Hawthorne Hall, Room H-105, on BCC’s main campus in Pittsfield.

"Let's Get Organized!" offers time management techniques and organizational skills. The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan 29, from 12:15 to 1:15.

"Learn to Listen and Take Notes" examines the strategies to listen effectively in class and take notes in an organized manner. The workshop will meet Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 12 to 1.

"How Do You Learn Best?" helps students discover a preferred method of receiving, processing, and learning information. The workshop is set for Thursday, Feb. 7, from 12:15 to 1:15.

"Textbook Mastery" shows students how to use reading and study techniques to increase ability to identify and retain important textbook material. The workshop will meet Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 12:15 to 1:15.

"Let's Get Organized!" offers time management techniques and organizational skills. The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 12 to 1.

"Tips in Using Your Calculator" shows how to use a graphing calculator. Presented by Sandra Ketcham, the workshop will meet Tuesday, Feb. 19, from 12:15 to 1:15 in Hawthorne Hall, Room 111.

"Study Effectively" outlines general study strategies for college success. The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 12 to 1 at BCC’s South County Center. Students must pre-register to attend this workshop.

"Doing Your Best on Exams" reviews relaxation techniques and strategies for taking essay, multiple choice, and true or false examinations. The workshop will be held Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 12:15 to 1:15.

"How Do You Learn Best?" helps students discover a preferred method of receiving, processing, and learning information. The workshop will meet Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 12 to 1.
