North Adams Church to Feature Jazz

NORTH ADAMS - First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, at 134 Main St. will feature jazz on the third Sunday of each month as part of its 10 a.m. service.

This Sunday, Feb. 17, will kick off the three-month series. Jazz musicians taking part are music director Scott Bailey, Bobby Marshall on drums and Chris Caproni on trombone. The morning's anthem will be offered by the choir.

The theme for worship will be "The Ryhthm of Hospitality," with the reflection on Scriptures by Steven Alspach, interim pastor. The service will be followed by a coffee hour. Enter through the Summer Street doors.

SteepleCats Shut Out on Road

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
