CET Junior Solar Sprint Teacher Training - February 13, 2008
PITTSFIELD — Middle school teachers and educators from Berkshire area schools are invited to register for a free Junior Solar Sprint (JSS) Teacher Training Workshop on February 27 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Reid Middle School in Pittsfield. The workshop is offered by the Center for Ecological Technology (CETsm).
The Junior Solar Sprint brings together students in grades 6-8 from Berkshire area schools, including southern Vermont and eastern NY, to design solar-powered model cars. The students form teams and use math, science and technology, along with their creativity and teamwork to learn about designing the transportation possibilities of tomorrow.
Teacher Training Workshop attendees will receive free curriculum materials, including JSS lesson plans, and a free vehicle kit to build during the workshop. Participants will also receive a letter of attendance for educational professional development and get a chance to win a raffle for a photovoltaic panel donated by Pitsco. Food and beverages will be provided.
The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association designed the workshop and is also a JSS sponsor. Enrollment is limited, so interested people should call 413-445-4556 ext. 25 or email cynthiag@cetonline.org to register today.
