The Roches to Perform at the Clark

- February 15, 2008

WILLIAMSTOWN - The Roches will perform at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute on Saturday, March 8.

The concert, a rare appearance of the three sisters together after a decade of solo projects, begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $24 ($20 per member) and available on the Clark's Web site, at the museum shop during business hours, or by calling 413-458-0524.

The Roches are Maggie, Terre, and Suzzy, sisters from New York City. They have created a musical expression perhaps best described as blending church choir music, traditional Irish folk, contemporary folk, rock, country, and pop with their own musical sensibilities.

After reuniting, the Roches in 2007 released "Moonswept," featuring the storytelling and intricate harmonies that have endeared them to contemporary folk music audiences since the mid '70s. Their self-titled debut album, "The Roches (1979)," was hailed as the Best Record of The Year by The New York Times. Besides several appearances on "The Tonight Show," "Late Night with David Letterman," and "A Prairie Home Companion," they have performed and recorded with Philip Glass, Paul Simon and the Indigo Girls, just to name a few.

The Clark is located at 225 South St. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 to 5;  Admission is free through May. For more information, call 413-458-2303 or visit www.clarkart.edu
