"Colors of Water" Service-Learning Project Student Exhibition - March 19, 2008
COLORS OF WATER is a Third Grade Student exhibition. The artists reception will be held on April 4, 2008, from 4-6 PM, at J. Stanley Sullivan Elementary School, 151 Kemp Avenue, North Adams, MA. This art exhibit explores the different colors that water appears and is part of our Service-Learning project "Water is Essential".
Water is essential, because all living things need water and all humans share this basic need to survive. Our class produced a PowerPoint presentation that covers 6 topics; the water cycle, potable water, West Africa, "Water is Key", the Pacific Institute and the colors of water, which will run during the exhibit as an informational/educational component.
Proceeds from our exhibit will go to, "Water in West Africa", which is a campaign to help raise funds for safe-water initiatives in West Africa, where 100% of the proceeds of this project will go to non-governmental organizations working on the ground to provide water, sanitation, and hygiene improvements to those most in need. During the art exhibit there will be a silent auction of a signed copy of Gil Garcetti's book of striking photographs, "Water is Key", which tells the story of water in West Africa. |
