Eph Women Win Golf Invitational

Williams Sports Info - April 21, 2008

HADLEY — Using a balanced effort, the Williams College women's golf team earned top honors at Friday's Massachusetts State Invitational, hosted by Mount Holyoke College.

A total of five squads participated in the event, which took place at the par-72 Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley. Kimberly Eaton of Wellesley College claimed the individual championship. Her score of 77 was five strokes over par.

The Ephs fired a 342 and finished just one shot in front of Boston University, which carded a 343. Rounding out the field were Wellesley (348), Amherst College (355) and Mount Holyoke (360).

The Ephs were led by junior Laura Koplik's 82. Koplik had a 41 on the front nine and the back nine and tied for third. Junior Melissa Barton shot an 85 and tied for seventh and Kait O'Brien tied for ninth with an 86.

Kristin Nottebohm and Anne O'Leary contributed 89s.
