An apparent fatal accident just before the Vermont state line shut down Route 7 in Williamstown on Friday evening around 5 p.m. One or more people were airlifted by LifeFlight helicopter from the nearby Steinerfilm parking lot. No further information was immediately available.

Journalist Ellis Cose to speak at Simon's Rock

GREAT BARRINGTON - On April 30 at 7pm, author and journalist Ellis Cose will give an informal talk concerning Rwanda, a country from which he has just returned. Co sponsored by the Black Student Union and The Owl’s Nest Coalition of Bard College at Simon’s Rock, the event will take place in the Oak Room of Blodgett House.
 
Ellis Cose was the youngest editorial page columnist to ever write for a Chicago daily at the age of nineteen. An accomplished independent radio producer and public speaker, Cose’s radio show “Against the Odds” has been aired on more than 170 channels.

In addition to serving many positions for the Chicago Sun Times, Cose has been president and chief executive officer of the Institute for Journalism Education, a contributor and press critic for Time magazine, chief writer on management and workplace issues for USA Today and a member of the editorial board of the Detroit Free Press.

The author of more than ten books, Cose often explores the issue and obsession with race in America. Cose has won numerous journalism awards and currently serves as a contributing editor for Newsweek.
 
The event is free and open to the public.
