Ambulance Service Holds Open House

Some 60 or more residents had visited the station by about noontime to have refreshments, look over the facility and equipment and talk with emergency medical technicians and other first-responders. There were also games and car-seat safety checks.
Children's activities included tattoo painting, a bouncy bounce and cotton candy.
Also on hand was the SAFE, the Safety Awareness and Fire Education house; city firefighter and fire educator David Simon took children through the house to teach them fire safety.
The Emergency Medical Services Committee of Berkshire County will hold its annual dinner and awards banquet on Friday, May 16, at the Pittsfield Elk's Club; the dinner is open to all emergency responders in Berkshire County.
National Emergency Medical Services week is a time to recognize the life-saving efforts of local emergency responders. Each year, the local ambulance service responds to more than 3,600 calls received through the 911 system.
