Presentation by, Jonathan M. Metsch, Dr. P.H. - June 05, 2008
On Monday, June 30th, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI at BCC) will host a presentation by, Jonathan M. Metsch, Dr. P.H., Wash Your Hands! Consumer Directed (Evidence Based) Medicine. The presentation will take place from 10:30am until noon at BCC, Koussevitzky Building, Room KIII.
Dr. Metsch, Clinical Professor of Community and Preventive Medicine at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Health Systems and Policy at the UMDNJ School of Public Health, will discuss how health care consumers can best navigate the health care system and fully participate in their own medical care decisions.
According to Dr. Metsch, consumers can be the ones to decide how best to spend their health care dollars—not doctors, or government or employers or insurance companies.
Consumer choice based on informed decision-making will bring higher quality care at a lower cost to all.
Where can we, the consumer, go for the best sources of relevant medical information? How do we evaluate the validity and usefulness of the information we find? How can we integrate what we have learned to make the best medical decisions for ourselves? Dr. Metsch will enlighten the audience on ways to find answers to all these questions.
The cost to attend this lecture is $10.00 for OLLI members; $15.00 for non-members. For information on this program and to register, call the OLLI office at 413-236-2190 or visit www.BerkshireOLLI.org. You may pay at the door. |
