North Adams Public Library, Summer Reading Adventure - June 12, 2008
NORTH ADAMS — Have you heard? This is the summer to go wild at the North Adams Public Library. Wild Reads @ your Library is the theme of the 2008 Statewide Summer Reading Adventure! The North Adams Public Library will offer a variety of wild and crazy options to keep kids reading over the summer. Baseball, magic, science, and music, as well as weekly reading incentives will be offered for interested children of all ages. Studies have shown that children who read or are read to over the summer enter school in the fall primed for success above that of their non-reading peers.
Registration for Wild Reads starts on Monday, June 16, 2008 and is open ended. Details about the special programs and keeping a reading log are included in the registration packet.
Wild Reads will start on Saturday, June 21, 2008 with a collaboration with the SteepleCats baseball team. At 11 a.m. at the library you can meet a player, hear some baseball stories, do some baseball themed crafts and eat a baseball snack. At 7 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field (gates open at 6 p.m.) the SteepleCats will be playing the North Shore Navigators. There will be special library themed contests between innings as well as a raffle of baseball books.
So be sure to be part of Wild Reads @ the North Adams Public Library this summer and get in on all the action.
