Beatles Day II will be held on Sunday June 29 - June 16, 2008
LENOX - Following up on the smashing success of last year’s Beatles Day, the Lenox Library is holding the second of what is hoped to be an annual fundraising Beatles Festival. Beatles Day II will be held on Sunday June 29th. There will be two events. The first is at the Lenox Library at 2 p.m. on that day.
It will be a Beatles Forum, with talks by three Beatles experts, musical examples from the original albums, and contributions by local fans and other Beatlemaniacs. The second event is an evening performance by Beatles cover bands playing a variety of Beatles tunes. This will take place at Lenox Middle and Memorial High School’s Duffin Theater at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 29.
The forum will feature Jonathan Gould, the author of the recent highly successful book on the Beatles: Can’t Buy Me Love: The Beatles, Britain, and America; Professor Jeremy Yudkin of Lenox, who is a music scholar at Boston University; and Michael Nock, a Beatles expert, who is also Dean of Students at the Tanglewood Music Center. Mr. Gould will be signing copies of his book at the Library immediately after the Forum.
The evening concert will be highlighted by four bands, including Axis and the Tony Lee Thomas Band, playing Beatles covers; a 1960s costume contest; a raffle; and a display of Beatles memorabilia. It will be emceed by the distinguished Shakespearian actor Jonathan Epstein of Lenox.
Tickets for the Forum are $7, available at the door. Tickets for the Concert are $15 ($10 for children), available at the door. A joint ticket, featuring admission to both events, will be available at the Forum for $20. All proceeds will benefit the Lenox Library. |
