NBH Announces Employee Continuing Education Scholarships - July 02, 2008
NORTH ADAMS - Eighteen employees of Northern Berkshire Healthcare have been awarded scholarships to assist their continuing education in health care and related fields.
Rick Palmisano, President and CEO of Northern Berkshire Healthcare, was joined by Paul Donovan, D.O., president of the Medical Staff at North Adams Regional Hospital, in awarding scholarships totaling more than $9,000 on June 26.
Recipients of Medical Staff scholarships included Breck Baker, Melissa Colvin-North, Andrea Garner, and Michelle Webb. Dr. Donovan said the Medical Staff is pleased to support the efforts of colleagues, and that one-third of Medical Staff dues are used to fund scholarships.
Billie Allard, RN, MS, Vice President of Patient Care Services at NARH, told the recipients “we appreciate the efforts and the huge commitment you make. Education makes you a better practitioner and keeps you excited about your job.” Allard noted that in addition to the Medical Staff scholarships, the ceremony honors several former hospital employees whose families established scholarships in their names, and in memory of individuals who received care at NARH.
The Lillian Liebich Memorial Scholarship Award, established by the Medical Staff at NARH in memory of a longtime director of medical records, was presented to Diane Therrien and Ruth Vidal.
Brenda McMahon was awarded the Verna Drury Award, and Deb Caron and Jaclyn Latimer shared the Toni Labonte Award. The Leonard & Edith Baldessarini Award was given to Kate Henault, Lisa Janovsky, Krystal Poulan, and Laura Rondeau. The Katherine Bowes Scholarship was awarded to Gladys Conklin, Elizabeth Fedotowsky, Deirdre Forde, and Jaclyn Latimer.
The Howard Brookner Scholarship, given in honor of Brookner’s years of service on the NBH Board of Trustees, was awarded to Alicia Chesbro and Samantha Ritcher. |
