Twisters defeat the North Adams SteepleCats 3-2

Torrington hopped on the board in the top of the fourth inning as with two down, Jaren Mathews walked and stole second. The next batter, Josh Chasse, singled to left, scoring Mathews from second to put the Twisters up 1-0.
North Adams came back in the bottom half of the inning as John Malloy extended his hitting streak to eight games with a leadoff single. Nick Shaw followed with a walk. Kevin Carby grounded a sharp shot to first. Jaren Mathews fielded and threw to third, but Malloy beat the throw to load the bases. Paul Hoilman came up and hit an RBI groundout to short scoring Malloy and moving Shaw to third. T. J. Greig came up next and lined a single into left, plating Shaw for a 2-1 SteepleCats lead.
The leas would last until the sixth when once again, Josh Chasse singled to drive in a run and tie the game at 2-2. The game would remain tied until the 11th when Mathews struck again, this time with a one out, solo homerun to give Torrington a 3-2 lead. Robert Chimpky came on and shut the door in the bottom of the eleventh for the save.
Danny Beck (2-0) got the win for the Twisters. Derek Shaw (0-2) pitched masterfully, the only hit he allowed being the Mathews homerun, took the loss for North Adams.
North Adams has one more home game against Torrington before an off day on Tuesday. Monday against Torrington is Movie Night at Joe Wolfe Field as the SteepleCats try for the third time to play their game from opening day against the Twisters. First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m.
