Plastic Surgery Practice Moving To New Location

Dr. Santamarina, a widely respected former Chief Resident of Surgery in the BMC Surgical Residency program, returned to the Berkshires earlier this year in a collaboration between BMC and the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare. Due to this collaboration, Dr. Santamarina is able to accept most insurance plans and also uninsured patients in need of reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Santamarina received his medical degree from Francisco Marroquin University in Guatemala City and completed a research fellowship in Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery at Esthetique International, in collaboration with Dr. Oscar Ramirez from Johns Hopkins Hospital. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Berkshire Medical Center, followed by fellowships in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Hand Surgery at the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Santamarina received the Teacher of the Year award in Surgical Subspecialties from BMC in June, for his contributions to the General Surgery Residency program. Dr. Santamarina is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Santamarina provides a wide array of Plastic Surgery services at Berkshire Medical Center, including reconstructive breast surgery; breast reduction; complex abdominal wall reconstruction; reconstruction for patients with head and neck cancer; reconstruction for burn patients; nose reconstruction and rhinoplasty; complex hand surgery; skin cancer care; pediatric hand surgery; body contour surgery; cosmetic surgery, such as facelifts, blepharoplasty, abdominoplasty; and other services.
