The Berkshires received several inches of snow this morning, but not enough to close schools, unlike yesterday's sleety mess. Temperatures will drop into the 20s this afternoon. A few more snow showers are expected through the weekend.

New Faculty Join MCLA - August 25, 2008
NORTH ADAMS, MA – Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) will welcome six new professors and one instructor to campus this fall.
Michael Dilthey will join MCLA as an assistant professor in the music program. He comes to the college from Norwalk Community College, in Norwalk, Conn., where he was an associate professor. He earned a doctorate degree and a master’s degree in music from Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill., a master’s degree in conducting from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Mo., and a bachelor’s degree in music composition and organ performance from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Ill.
Emily Mooney will join the college as an assistant professor in biology. She comes to MCLA from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa., where she was a conservation biology instructor. She earned her doctorate from the University of West Virginia in Morgantown, W.V., and her bachelor’s degree in environmental and forest biology from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, N.Y.
Melanie Mowinski will join MCLA as an assistant professor in visual arts. She comes to the college from the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, where she was the public programs coordinator. She earned a master’s of fine arts degree from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pa., a master’s degree in religion and the visual arts from Yale University in New Haven, Conn., and a bachelor’s degree in visual arts and art education from Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, Ohio.
Daniel Shustack will join the college as an assistant professor in biology. He comes to MCLA from Ohio State University, where he was an instructor. He earned his doctorate degree from Ohio State University in the School of Environment and Natural Resources, a master’s degree in wildlife and fisheries biology from the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt., and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pa.
Juna Snow will join MCLA as an assistant professor in education. Most recently, she was a Boston-based research consultant. She earned her doctorate in education, her master’s degree in ecology, and her bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Louis Stelling will join MCLA as an assistant professor in French, in the Department of Modern Language, Interdisciplinary Studies and Philosophy. He comes to the college from the University of Albany, where he was a lecturer. He earned his doctorate and earned a master’s degree in French and a bachelor’s degree in French studies at the State University of New York at Albany in Albany, N.Y.
Sheila McClain will join MCLA as an instructor in sociology. She comes to the college from the University of Albany in New York where she is working on her doctorate. She earned her master’s degree in sociology from the University of Memphis in Tennessee and her Bachelor of Science degree in sociology from Middle Tennessee State University.
