More Snow
The Berkshires received several inches of snow this morning, but not enough to close schools, unlike yesterday's sleety mess. Temperatures will drop into the 20s this afternoon. A few more snow showers are expected through the weekend.
We have reports that the roads are very slippery to take care in the evening commute. |

MCLA To Present Film, Talk For Constitution Day - September 10, 2008
NORTH ADAMS – Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) will observe the 221st anniversary of the enactment of the U.S. Constitution with a film and presentation on Shay’s Rebellion by local attorney Richard Taskin, a visiting lecturer in history and political science, on Monday, Sept. 15, 4-5:30 p.m., in the Sullivan Lounge, in the Amsler Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served prior to the film and a discussion will follow.
The uprising among rural farmers and debtors in Western Massachusetts in 1786-1787 that became known as Shay’s Rebellion is credited with being the single most influential factor in convincing many leading Americans of the day that the Articles of Confederation had failed to bind the country together and there was a need for a stronger central government.
The film, “Shay’s Rebellion: America’s First Civil War,” details the Feb. 3, 1787 attempt by rebel troops in Western Massachusetts to seize the federal Springfield Armory. This film was directed by Emmy winner R.J. Cutler, with Hector Elizondo, and was part of the History Channel’s “Ten Days that Unexpectedly Changed America” series.
