More Snow

The Berkshires received several inches of snow this morning, but not enough to close schools, unlike yesterday's sleety mess. Temperatures will drop into the 20s this afternoon. A few more snow showers are expected through the weekend.

We have reports that the roads are very slippery to take care in the evening commute.

- September 15, 2008

This Fall IS183 Art School continues to offer art programs for children, teens and adults at the Lichtenstein Center located at 28 Renne Avenue in Pittsfield.

On Saturday, November 1 from 10AM to 12Noon a FREE Print Making Workshop for children and their caregivers will be held on the first floor of the Lichtenstein Center. Faculty artist Ali Herrmann will teach participants how to create original handmade cards using various printmaking techniques. This is a drop in class, no registration is necessary. Children of all ages are invited to attend and must be accompanied by an adult.

An after school drawing class for teens “Urban Landscape in Pittsfield” is being offered by Michael Rousseau on Wednesdays, from October 1st to November 19th from 4PM to 6PM. Using the streets, buildings and landmarks of downtown Pittsfield, students will create dynamic drawings while learning perspective, composition and strengthening their understanding of their surroundings.

Adults meet on Thursday mornings October 16 to November 20 from 9:30 to 12:30 in “Beginning Watercolor in Pittsfield” with instructor June Ferrin. This course is for the first time painter as well as the student who would like to learn more about the various approaches to the medium.

“Printing without a Press” with Ali Herrmann is held on Wednesday mornings 9:30 to 12:30 from October 8 to November 19. This seven week class will explore a variety of printing methods and techniques that can be done without the use of a press. Using brayers, simple cutting tools, water and oil based ink, students will experience a variety of print methods that they can continue on at home.
