Berkshire AHEC Announces Two Upcoming CEU Programs - October 08, 2008
The Berkshire Area Health Education Center (AHEC), Inc. will present the following continuing education programs: “Updates in Respiratory Illness & Bronchoscopic Techniques,” on Thursday October 23rd, from 5:45 to 9:00 pm, at the Berkshire Medical Center auditorium, 725 North Street, Pittsfield, MA. Boris A. Murillo, M.D. F.A.C.P., Director of the Pulmonary Laboratory, Berkshire Medical Center will provide an update on newer interventional and advanced bronchoscopic techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases.
Patricia G. Hyland, M.Ed., RRT, Department Chair, Cardiorespiratory & Emergency Medicine Programs, Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, NY will provide updates on the clinical manifestations, assessment & management of Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which includes Emphysema, Bronchitis and Tuberculosis. Registration and a light supper begin at 5:15pm and the program will run from 5:45-9:00pm. Contact hours have been approved for nurses and for respiratory, occupational and physical therapists, dental hygienists and assistants and credits have also been approved for EMT’s at the basic, intermediate and paramedic level. On Saturday, November 1st, “Topics in Radiology” will be held at the Berkshire Medical Center auditorium, 725 North Street, Pittsfield MA. Lisa Loring, MD, Radiologist, Medical Director, Women’s Imaging Center, Berkshire Medical Center will present “Breast MRI: What’s It All About?” “Transjugular Intrahepatic Portal Systemic Shunts (TIPSS)” will be presented by Timothy Mahoney, MD, Radiologist, Advanced Berkshire Medical Imaging, Berkshire Medical Center and Fairview Hospital and Frank Ascoli, MS, Chief Medical Physicist, Technical Engineer, and Radiation Safety Officer, North Main Radiation Oncology – Vantage Oncology, Providence, RI will address “Radiation Protection in the Healing Arts.”
Program registration and continental breakfast begin at 8:30 am and the program will run from 9:00 – 12:15pm. Contact hours will be offered for nurses and 1 Radiation Protection and 2 Direct Radiation credits have been approved for radiologic technologists.
