Pittsfield, Mass – County Ambulance will be accepting applications for their Winter 2009 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training course. The course will be conducted at their 185 Wahconah St. facility.
The EMT course is approximately 130 hours long, teaches foundational EMS skills, and upon successful completion qualifies the participant to take the Massachusetts EMT certification exam. The Winter 2009 course begins on January 11 and runs each Tuesday and Thursday night and every other Sunday through April 12. 100% attendance is required for successful completion of the program. Cost of the program is $ 695 and includes the textbook.
No prior experience or training is required of the course applicant. The applicant, in order to be eligible for the state EMT certification examination must:
* be able to read, understand and communicate in English;
* be 18 years of age;
* be free from addiction to alcohol or any drug;
* be able to lift and carry 125 pounds; and
* be free from any physical or mental defect or disease which might impair his/her ability to provide emergency care within the scope of the EMTs training and responsibilities, or which might jeopardize he health of another member of the class.
