Adopt a Senior Pet for $50 in November
Pittsfield, Mass - November has been designated as “Adopt a Senior Pet Month” and to celebrate, The Berkshire Humane Society will reduce the adoption fee to $50 for all pets 7 years and older at the shelter. John Perreault, Executive Director of the shelter, stated, “Right now we have some great felines who have been with us at the shelter since March and they are also over seven years old, it’ with them in mind that the staff wanted to honor senior pet month by making it easier to adopt those older, overlooked animals. We are always looking for ways to bring potential adopters to BHS for their next pet, and the reduce fee will give them an added incentive to adopt an animal from a shelter. The $50 adoption fee includes the spay/neutering surgery, micro-chipping of the animal and much more. The shelter is open for adoptions Tuesday thru Saturday 10am until 4pm, Thursday evenings 5-8pm and Sundays 1pm until 4pm. The available pets can also be viewed at the Berkshire Humane Society’s website, www.berkshirehumane.org.
The Berkshire Humane Society has been helping animals and people since 1992; they offer free educational visits and tours for area school children, a community pet-food bank for economically distressed pet owners, and works in cooperation with The Elizabeth Freeman Center to provide foster care assistance for the pets of women in crisis.
BHS receives no public funding and relies on memberships and donations to continue to help animals and people. In 2007, BHS placed 784 homeless animals into loving forever homes. The shelter is open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 4pm, Thursday evenings 5-8pm, and Sundays 1-4pm. The shelter closes at noon on the last Wednesday of each month for staff meetings.
