NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Black & white photographs by local artist and amateur photographer Marcel Donaj will be exhibited at the North Adams Public Library from January 15 through the end of February.
A graduate of Drury High School, Donaj has been interested in photography since being given an Instamatic camera at the age of 12. He credits his first influence to North Adams Transcript photographer Randy Trabold, who also worked with a 2 ¼” format film camera.
Donaj’s images are enhanced by his using vintage picture frames. Most of his images were developed in makeshift basement and closet darkrooms. Although still using emulsion films, he slowly is embracing the digital age.
The artist and his dog, Carrera, reside in Stamford, VT.
A open house “Meet the Artist” event will be held on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 6 to 7:30.
