Friday Night: Guitar Blues @ the Colonial

The guitar is the foundation upon which blues is built, and Guitar Blues features three of the most acclaimed blues players in America today. Join Hot Tuna's Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jorma Kaukonen, the legendary Robben Ford and the phenomenal rising star Ruthie Foster for a very special evening of blues, featuring the wonderful six-stringed instrument that is the heart and soul of the genre.

Saturday: Word Street Cleanup Day

Inspired by novelist Dave Eggers’ pioneering youth literary center, 826 Valencia in San Francisco, Word Street is a plucky community center on North Street serving young people with literary workshops, homework help, an afterschool drop in center, and more. Help them out at their spring cleaning & find out more about their programs & how you can get involved. Both youth & adults welcome – guaranteed to be fun!

Art at Bagels Too's early winter group show of Berkshire artists closes this weekend. Thier opening reception was so much fun and so lively they decided to have a closing reception too! The show features work by Morris Bennett, Mario Caluori, Barbara Deely, and many more local artists. Monday: Circus Techniques Class

Get ready for the Fool's Festival! Don Jordan is teaching classes in tumbling, acrobatics, slack-rope and juggling in his downtown studio on North Street. Don Jordan studied at the Ecole Jacques Lecoq and the Gymnase du Cirque in Paris.  Learn somersaults, balances, handstands, cartwheels, front and back handsprings and more. Find out how to keep three objects in the air with only two hands.....while balancing on one foot on a very thin rope! Students can enter classes at any time and work on any level from beginner to advanced.  Classes will occur every Monday, starting this week.

Thursday: Eye to Ear Lecture @ Berkshire Museum

The founder and director of Ballets Metropolis and Studio One in downtown Pittsfield, Darryl Puchiarello, will talk about his stellar career as a soloist and lead dancer with the Metropolitan Opera and his choreography for ballet companies around the world.

Next Friday: Parade Aid @ the Colonial!

Five popular local performance groups have rallied together to form a show for the benefit of the Pittsfield 4th of July Parade. The casts of Romance, Soul & Rock 'n Roll, The Oldies But Goodies, The Wanna B's, Memory Lane and Broadway to the Berkshires have joined forces to present their very best productions. Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will help fund Pittsfield's annual Fourth of July parade, one of the ten best in the U.S.A.!
