BCC to Offer Workshops this Spring

Berkshire Community College will offer the following workshops this spring.

“Medical Billing & Coding” (WKS 1160), a combined 70-hour billing and coding course, offers the skills needed to solve insurance billing problems, file claims, complete insurance forms, trace delinquent claims, appeal denied claims, and use generic forms to streamline billing procedures. Classes, taught by Condensed Curriculum Inc. staff, meet Tuesday and Thursday evening, March 19 through May 28, from 6 to 9:30. Cost for registration is $1,499.

“Hiking in the Berkshires for Beginners” (WKS 644) takes new hikers to eight sites chosen from 68 documented Berkshire locations. Hikers should be able to walk continuously over rolling terrain for at least one hour. The first class meets Sunday afternoon, March 8, from 12 to 1 on BCC’s main campus. The remaining seven classes meet Sunday afternoon, March 22 through May 17, from 12:30 to 4. Taught by Bertram Pritchard, registration for the course costs $120.

“Publish Your Book – Guaranteed” (WKS 920) gives students the tools and information needed to publish their own book. Topics include design, production timelines, project funding, signing tours, and succeeding in retail distribution. Taught by David Ewen, the class meets Saturday, March 21, from 9 to 1. Cost for registration is $45.

“ServSafe Food Safety Certification” (WKS 396), a nationally-recognized course, meets the specifications set by the Massachusetts Food Code and certifies students in food safety and sanitation. Taught by Nancy Simonds-Ruderman, classes meet Monday evening, March 23 and March 30, from 5:30 to 9. Cost for registration is $155.

“Anybody Can Do Brunch!”(WKS 2052) gives participants the lowdown on elegant, yet easy, brunch menus and planning. Taught by Audrey Sussman, the class meets Tuesday evening, March 24, from 6 to 9. Cost for registration is $45 with an additional $10 material fee payable to the instructor.

“Building and Maintaining a Profitable Business” (WKS 924) teaches students tips, tricks and techniques to succeed in starting a business or consulting practice. Taught by David Ewen, the class meets Saturday, March 28, from 9 to 1. Cost for registration is $45.
