Noted musician David Grover has joined the Berkshire Music School faculty as guitar instructor. He will offer private lessons starting on Wednesday afternoons for beginners and adults. He will also conduct song writing workshops for children as part of the School’s Summer Camp.

David Grover has garnered dozens of awards, including Emmy and Grammy nominations, and top recognition from Parents’ Choice, the National Parenting Publications (NAPPA) and other non-profit groups spotlighting excellence in children’s media. For more than a decade, he has been named The Berkshire Eagle’s Best Singer/Songwriter. Grover has performed at the White House, opened the Goodwill Games, appeared on NBC-TV’s “Today Show,” performed with the Detroit Symphony for their Youth Series and played for the delegates of the United Nations, where he played his song Turn the World Around to kickoff the International Year of Clean Water.

Grover learned to play guitar as a teenager, and performed with various rock groups before joining the band Shenandoah, which eventually toured the nation with Arlo Guthrie. Since then he has created 16 family music recordings and seven music videos. He performs at schools, community centers and festivals. He is also developing musical curricula for various organizations as part of his non-profit National Children’s Music Project.

The organization was originally affiliated with the Woody Guthrie Foundation, and recently launched as an independent entity, committed to bringing music into children’s lives through community involvement and educational programs. His group, David Grover and the Big Bear Band, performs regularly throughout the region.

David Grover is a musician of historic impact and talent. I have had the good fortune to listen to him in educational settings since the early 1980s. Students and familys grow closer, and values of community are enhanced through David's music. Congratulations to the Berkshire Music School.
