NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Write Stuff students from Silvio O. Conte Middle School hosted a creative writers gathering on Friday, April 3, 2009. The highlight of the meeting was an appearance by “Unity”, the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition group of writers from Drury and Mt. Greylock High Schools.
Conte students, MCLA mentors, and Unity members shared an afternoon at the Conte Middle School library for readings of student work, writers block games and refreshments in a café’ atmosphere.
The Writers Café’ was organized as a collaborative event by Write Stuff coordinators Sharon Wyrrick (from Inkberry), Linda Neville (from Conte) and Kate Merrigan and Alison Basedekis (from Unity) as an opportunity for middle school writers to gain performance techniques used by high school, college and community writers.
