PITTSFIELD, Mass. - State Senator Benjamin B. Downing (D-Pittsfield) announces the availability of seasonal job applications for the Department of Conservation and Recreation’s (DCR) Seasonal Training and Employment Program (S.T.E.P.) in his Pittsfield office. The deadline to apply for a seasonal position in the state parks system is Friday, May 1, 2009.
Due to limited funding, DCR project’s the ability to hire nearly 40% fewer positions than last summer. At the same time, DCR is expecting a substantial increase in applications, making this a highly competitive hiring process.
To obtain an application, interested applicants should contact Senator Downing’s district office at (413) 442-4008. Applications must be completed in full and returned to the Senator’s office at 20 Bank Row, Suite 202 no later than May 1st. Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
The DCR Seasonal Training and Employment Program delivers the highest quality services to the visiting public by recruiting and retaining qualified and motivated seasonal staff. A key component of S.T.E.P. is that it provides a positive work experience for youth, as well as educational opportunities and training for students who are interested in environmental or recreational services. Most jobs arranged through S.T.E.P. are in the field, giving employees great, active, hands-on experience.
