WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -  Harpsichordist Victor Hill will commemorate the 350th anniversary of the birth of Henry Purcell with a concert of the composer's harpsichord works on Sunday, May 3, at 3 pm, at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute. Admission is free.

In addition to Purcell's "Suite 5 in C major," "Ground in C minor," and "Suite 6 in D major," Hill will perform the "Sonata in D minor" by J. S. Bach and a suite by François Couperin, including his satire on the French minstrels guild.

Hill is the Thomas T. Read Professor of Mathematics, Emeritus, at Williams College. He studied in Amsterdam with the eminent Dutch harpsichordist Gustav Leonhardt, and has played more than 900 concerts throughout the United States and in Europe.

The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm (daily in July and August). Admission is free November 1 through May 31. Admission June 1 through October 31 is $12.50 for adults, free for children 18 and younger, members, and students with valid ID.
