NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The MCLA Baseball program, along with the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), will be sponsoring a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) on Saturday, April 25. The team will be hosting conference rival Salem State College at 1:00 pm at the Joe Zavattaro Athletic Complex. It is the program’s goal to donate $1000 to the JDRF from this event.
The JDRF is the world’s largest charitable fund and advocate for type I diabetes research. As many as 3 million Americans have type I diabetes. The mission of the JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type I diabetes can strike suddenly as evidenced by the 15,000 children diagnosed in the U.S. per year. That is an average of 40 children per day! Over 85% of the JDRF’s expenditures directly support research for finding a cure.
The day’s events will include opportunities to donate in many different ways. There will be a raffle held for various prizes including I-Pods, MCLA gear, etc. The program will conduct a 50/50 raffle. The Student Athletic Advisory Committee will be holding a concession stand with all proceeds going to the JDRF.
On behalf of MCLA Baseball and S.A.A.C., we hope you can join our fight against this disease on Saturday, April 25 at the Joe Zavattaro Athletic Complex.
