NARH to host Emergency Medical Services04:11PM / Thursday, May 14, 2009
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - North Adams Regional Hospital will mark Emergency Medical Services week with a hands-on event for the community on Saturday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
NARH invites the public to see a LifeNet helicopter along with ambulance rigs from local ambulance services, and emergency equipment from the North Adams Fire and Police Departments.
The event takes place on and around the helicopter landing pad at North Adams Regional Hospital. NARH will provide free refreshments and raffle drawings as well.
“We’re pleased to invite the public to see the range of emergency services that serve our community in times of crisis,” said Sharon Leary, communications and outreach coordinator for REACH for Community Health. “From first responders, to our Emergency Department staff, to the crews of local ambulance services and the medical helicopters, we have an amazing pool of expertise ready to help.”
Canine officers Molly from the North Adams Police Department and Blue from the Williamstown Police Department are expected at the event. Visitors will also see vehicles from the Massachusetts State Police and the Army National Guard.
Information on Family Emergency Preparedness, CPR, stroke awareness, child passenger safety and the Berkshire County Medical Reserve Corp will also be available. |
