Savoy Green Committee11:54AM / Friday, May 29, 2009
Savoy, Mass. - On May 13th, the Savoy Town Meeting voted to establish a five-member "Green" Committee, validating an informal group that has been meeting for the past year.
At their organizational meeting on May 28, projects to save the town money through better use of resources and energy-efficiency were discussed.
In addition to the five town-appointed members, two students from Savoy Elementary School have also been attending discussions. Students from SES will suggest names for the town committee that reflects its goals and efforts. This past year Savoy Elementary students have worked diligently at recycling and composting at the school.
The next meeting of the "Green" Committee will be held on June 25 at 7 pm at the Savoy Senior Center. |
I think it a great idea to form a committee. All towns have beautiful flowers for the tourist to view and Savoy has only what beauty the homeowner places on his or her yard. Some of these I see are hard work but a labor of love and I for one, appreciate your efforts.
