Green Mile Road Race09:22AM / Friday, June 12, 2009
PITTSFIELD, Mass. - The Green Mile Road Race will be held Thursday June 18th at 6pm, starting and finishing on North Street, near the School Street intersection. All proceeds from the event will benefit the race’s chief sponsors, the Westside and Morningside Neighborhood Initiatives.
The flat and fast one mile footrace will proceed north on North Street, before taking successive right turns on Maplewood Ave, North Pearl Street and Melville Street. Runners will then take a left back onto North Street, to finish where they started.
The race is coordinated in coalition with the City of Pittsfield’s 3rd Thursday festivities; runners will start and finish in front of the Main Stage and will be cheered by the large 3rd Thursday crowd. In keeping with the June 3rd Thursday Theme, “Its easy being green”, the overall and age-group winners will receive green-themed awards for their efforts. Overall male and female champions will also receive prizes courtesy of The Arcadian Shop.
All competitors can access registration forms and additional information by clicking on the Green Mile link under “latest news” on the city’s website, www.pittsfield.com Pre-registrations will be accepted until 6/16 for $10; race day registration is $14.
