Summer Reading Program 2009 Kickoff Event

It’s that time of year again to join in the fun of the North Adams Public Library 2009 Summer Reading Program, Starship Adventure. Local youth, ages 3-18, are encouraged to sign up to be a summer reader.

Come into the NAPL’s Youth Services Department to sign up, or go to the Library’s website http://www.naplibrary.com to sign up on-line. Participants will receive all the materials needed to have an out of this world experience. 

To kick off the reading season, join us at the NAPL on Saturday, June 27th at 10:00 a.m. to make your own Martian. Various materials will be provided to create a Martian to share in the participants’ summer reading adventures. Just take your Martian with you and take pictures of your experience. All pictures submitted will be on display at the Martians in MA website. 

The Starship Adventures Magic Show by Greg McAdams will come to the North Adams Public Library on Saturday, June 27th, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Offered as part of the state wide Starship Adventure Summer Reading Program, this event is free to all and promises fun for the whole family. This program is made possible with generous support from The Friends of the North Adams Public Library.

SteepleCats Shut Out on Road

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
