BCC’s Learning Skills Assessment Available in North Adams09:11AM / Wednesday, July 01, 2009
For the convenience of North County residents planning to attend Berkshire Community College in the fall, BCC will make its Learning Skills Assessment available in North Adams at McCann Technical High School on two separate occasions.
The assessment, which is one of the tools BCC uses to help its students to succeed, will be offered Wednesday, July 15 and again on Aug. 12, at 11 and 1.
Unless exempted, all prospective BCC students must complete a skills assessment in reading, writing and mathematics before registering for courses. Assessment results, which have no bearing on a student’s acceptance to BCC, are used for placement purposes only to ensure that students are enrolled in courses commensurate with their abilities.
Students who have completed previous college-level coursework in English and mathematics, with a grade of “C” or better, may be exempt from the assessment. Exemption decisions are made by the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Services after reviewing an applicant's admissions file.
All assessments are by appointment only. There is no fee. No student will be allowed to take the assessment without positive identification. While a picture I.D. with the student's typed name is preferred, alternatives may be arranged through the assessment office.
For more information, or to make an appointment, call BCC’s Assessment and Testing Center at 413-236-1655 or 413-236-1656. |
