PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Anyone interested in learning to write songs, play guitar, or brush up on guitar skills, is invited to register for the following music workshops held at BCC's South County Center this fall. All classes are taught by guitarist David Hodge.
Beginner's Guitar – Step Two (WKS 800) takes the skills and knowledge learned in the “Absolute Beginner’s Guitar” workshop an extra step. Students will use song arrangements to learn about chord voicing, walking bass lines, Travis picking and more. Class meets Tuesday evening, Sept. 8 through Dec. 8, from 6:30 to 7:30, or Thursday evening, Sept. 10 through Dec. 10, from 6:30 to 7:30. Cost for registration is $125.
Absolute Beginner's Guitar (WKS 796) teaches the basics of guitar from tuning, strumming and fingerpicking to simple lead and bass lines. Participants will be playing songs from week one. Class meets Tuesday evening, Sept. 8 through Dec. 8, from 5:30 to 6:30, or Thursday evening, Sept. 10 through Dec. 10 from 4:30 to 5:30, or Thursday evening Sept 10 through Dec. 10 from 7:30 to 8:30. Cost for registration is $125.
Songwriting (WKS-1528) teaches the basic of songwriting. Students work on weekly assignments designed to improve writing skills. Class meets Thursday evening, Sept. 10 through Dec. 10, from 7:30 to 8:30. Cost for registration is $125.
Guitar Jam (WKS-841) combines group play with practical applications of music theory and guitar techniques. Play the guitar with other students to learn more about music and improve playing skills. Class meets Thursday evening, Sept. 10 through Dec. 10, from 5:30 to 6:30. Cost for registration is $125.
